Over the Road Transportation

Mainland Distribution offers both FTL & LTL options. Full truckload refers to a shipment that occupies the entire capacity of a truck. In FTL shipments, the entire space is dedicated to a single customer's cargo, ensuring that the goods are not mixed with other shipments. This ensures faster transit times and reduces the risk of damage or loss since the cargo remains undisturbed throughout the journey. It allows for customized routing, specialized equipment, and specific delivery requirements tailored to the customer's needs.

Less than truckload refers to shipments that do not require the full capacity of a truck and are combined with other shipments to maximize space utilization. LTL shipments are priced based on the space occupied by the shipment, weight, and distance traveled. Customers pay only for the portion of the truck space their cargo occupies, making it a cost-effective option for smaller shipments.

We offer Dry Van, Reefer and Flatbed options. To choose the appropriate service for a shipment, consider its specific requirements, and any regulatory or logistical considerations. Factors such as temperature sensitivity, size, weight, and loading/unloading requirements will help determine which option is most suitable.

Dry van transportation accommodates a wide range of non-perishable goods such as consumer products, electronics, textiles, industrial supplies, or general merchandise. Dry van trailers provide protection from external elements, ensuring the security and safety of the cargo during transit. They also have a standardized design, making them compatible with most loading docks.

Refrigerated trailers are used to maintain specific temperature conditions throughout the transportation process, ensuring that perishable goods remain within the required temperature range. This service is typically used for transporting perishable items.

Hauling freight on a flatbed involves using trailers without sidewalls or a roof, allowing for the transportation of oversized, heavy, or irregularly shaped cargo. Flatbed trailers provide flexibility for transporting cargo that doesn't fit within standard dimensions or requires specialized loading/unloading methods.

Oversized & Hazmat

Transporting oversized loads involves obtaining permits from relevant authorities, such as state transportation departments. These permits specify travel routes, time restrictions, and any necessary safety precautions to ensure the load is transported safely and efficiently. Oversized loads often require specialized equipment, such as flatbed trailers, lowboy trailers, or extendable trailers, to accommodate their size and weight.

Transporting hazmat loads involves compliance with various regulations, including those set by the Department of Transportation (DOT) and other relevant authorities. Hazmat shipments require special safety precautions to minimize the risk of accidents, leaks, spills, or other hazardous incidents. This may involve using specialized containers, securing the load properly, and following specific procedures for loading, unloading, and transit. Handling hazmat loads requires trained and certified personnel who understand the regulations and safety protocols associated with transporting hazardous materials. This ensures that the shipments are handled safely and in compliance with applicable regulations.

Warehouse services encompass the storage, management, and handling of goods within a warehouse facility. Warehousing plays a vital role in the logistics process, providing a central location for inventory management, order fulfillment, and distribution. Loading services involve the efficient and secure loading of goods onto trucks, trailers, containers, or other modes of transportation for transportation to their intended destinations. We ensure that goods are properly handled, organized, and secured to prevent damage during transit. We require trained personnel who have expertise in handling various types of cargo. They understand the specific requirements of different goods, such as fragile items, heavy equipment, or hazardous materials, and employ appropriate loading techniques and equipment to ensure safe transportation. aim to maximize the utilization of available space within the transportation equipment. This involves strategically arranging the cargo to minimize wasted space, reduce the risk of damage, and optimize efficiency during transportation.

Intermodal

Intermodal transportation is a service that involves the movement of goods using multiple modes of transportation, typically combining two or more modes such as road, rail, sea, or air. The primary objective of intermodal transportation is to leverage the strengths and efficiencies of each mode to optimize the overall logistics process.

Intermodal transportation offers several benefits to both shippers and transportation providers. By utilizing different modes of transportation, intermodal transportation can optimize costs. For example, long-distance transportation can be conducted via more cost-effective rail or sea transport, while shorter distances or final mile delivery can be covered using trucks. Intermodal transportation can contribute to reduced carbon emissions and environmental impact. Rail and sea transport are generally more environmentally friendly compared to road transport. Utilizing these modes for longer hauls helps reduce greenhouse gas emissions and energy consumption.
